Christmas

I'm serious! It's nearly Christmas! Well, when you consider that there are only a handful of weekends left before Christmas... and that I judge time by weekends, since that's really the only time I ever have to do anything non-work-related... and work days/weeks all blur into one... and even weekend time is non-existent, because I never seem to be doing "nothing" on the weekend... it's not far away.

It really just hit. Christmas did. Today. The temperature has suddenly dropped, settling in for winter... the city lights in the early evening feel completely different when the weather is cold. Cozy. Christmassy.

Fine. Not quite just yet, as I was still in an office skirt and sleeveless blouse. But still... and it was chilly... in that blouse... and skirt... and peep toe heels...

Anyway, today, it hit me: that Christmas did, the scoundrel.

And then I realized: This will be my first Christmas completely alone. I've never spent a Christmas alone. I've had Christmasses when I was isolated, because of life's circumstances and no longer being close to anybody, but there were still lots of people around, so I wasn't technically "alone". But this year, I'll be alone _and_ alone. And then New Year's follows.

I think holidays, any type, even birthdays, are pointless things to celebrate, if you have nobody to celebrate them with. No?

Now I know why some people hate the holidays -- besides whatever other issues other people have with them -- and why we used to do all that holiday-oriented "outreach". :) I'm a much better commiserator, now. With that.

But give me a choice and I'll still choose celebrating with somebody as opposed to celebrating alone or not at all. :) Well, this from somebody who rarely eats, these days, because it's simply no fun sitting there and eating alone. You would think I'd look more starved, eh? Well, when we _are_ around people, we sure make up for it. :D

Maybe I should go somewhere for Christmas. Me, myself and I... the 3 of us could have a swell time!

Anybody want me for Christmas? If it's somewhere I can travel to by the speed of... well, actually, make that the cost of (harhar) thought... I'm there!
