Sea Mio -- 2010-05-16

This morning's wake-up revelations:

1. Never make dirt
2. I am a closet piggy

#1: This is the first time, as a grown-up, that I've lived in an apartment. A building with more than a couple floors and no yard. We've been here 3 weeks, now, and the full reality of this lifestyle change dawned on me when I thought: "The mud on my cleats is probably dry enough for me to shake it off, now. Oh... there's nowhere to shake it off!" Ordinarily, I could stand outside, shake off the cleats and the yard would benefit thereby. Not so now. This was quite a rude awakening. Now you have to find some place to shake them, then get a broom and dustpan and sweep it up, then, because we don't keep bins around the place, find some place to empty the dustpan... This is quite a life adjustment. I'm not sure I'll survive. :D

#2: If nobody else is around (as last night and part of today), I'm quite content to strew my things around and leave them there (as long as it's not dirt or trash -- that would disturb me to no end and maybe even death), knowing I'll set aside half an hour later today to gather up everything, clean surfaces, throw laundry into the machine, put everything back into its place... and the world will be right again. This is called a controlled mess: it disturbs me, but I have a plan, so I can handle it. :D I do suspect that all members of my family with the Flandoli-Rieli combination have mild OCD or are quite capable of full-fledged OCD, so if you factor that in to this approach, the plan is really quite a balanced perspective. >:)

There will be more rantings about apartment life, if nothing else than to start posting the "free moving showings" they have, here, over the weekend, in their 50+ compound cinema, so that those who don't live here can drop by, if they feel so led. Woohoo!

  1. Actually, can you do that with the movies? I'll then try and come by every so often. Watching movies alone is not very fun.
