Terror by Skype

So, there I was, pondering how to spend the 7 minutes before the load would be done, when I struck upon a brilliant how-to-best-waste-your-time activity!

Disclaimer: It seems whenever I strike upon a brilliant or clever thought or idea, somebody has already gone before me with the same thought/idea and somebody else is always willing to point that out. To me. Let us, however, not to be dissuaded: if it's new to me and it's clever and/or brilliant, but somebody's already done it, well, I guess you could say I am sincerely one of the greats. Humbly. >:D Thank you, thank you, thankyouverymuch. I mean, if we didn't have the interwebs, you might've heard it from ME first, rather than him/her, then I'D be the genius, in your mind. :D Hahaha. (Don't worry, I haven't suddenly become egotistical. I still know my limitations and reality. I just choose not to dwell on them. Sometimes.)

So... the idea: I figured I'd go through my Skype contacts and "comment on" all the Skype thoughts/quotes posted.

Sometimes, people randomly comment back to me on things I post. On Skype. I do wonder what kind of time people have, to keep up with everyone's Skype quotes :D (I've never gone through them to see what people update with, but I imagine it's a rather fun sport some people engage in??). Perhaps it's a Facebook habit they've developed. If I used Facebook to post my random-and-oh-so-brilliant-revelations-regarding-life (cough-cough), or extremely-applicable-to-life-and-hillarious-quotes-I-glean-from,-well,-places (you're welcome), I wouldn't be surprised to see commentary. Because that's what people do. On Facebook. (Well, that would be a bit too much general and public exposure of/for me...) Some people will think they know what I'm talking about in my Skype "thoughts" and try to respond in kind. Others will ask me what on earth I'm thinking, when it really isn't explainable. Lately, often, they've been aimed at one object -- if the object doesn't see or get it, then nobody will. As it may be, if my random comments don't resonate with _somebody_, then it's just another psychotic emission from Ange. Which, though technically could be considered pollution, isn't too harmful, in the great scheme of things.

Or is it... :D

So, there I was, consciously deciding to pollute. No sooner had I begun, when I realized that a number of my Skype contacts were... 1) added ages ago, so must no longer remember I can be psychotic, 2) work-related, so have no idea what a coocoo I can be, 3) never knew me well enough, so wouldn't expect stupidity from my corner.

In any case, I forged on: I sent a "response" to every Skype quote/thought that was showing up for me. This turned out to take much longer than 7 minutes. But it resulted in a great and deligthtful end, which delectables, I will share with you, here, for your general edification.

Well, _I_ was delighted. I'm sure everybody else was perplexed. Maybe 1/3 of people got it, perhaps because what I said back made sense to them and/or they realized it was about their quote, or because they're also, possibly, secretly, insane.

Ehe.

A wee word of advice: People, for those of you who actually found some depth in my replies... please, pleeease... check your fountain-of-wisdom gauge -- it needs adjusting. :D

(Leigh, I do rather blame you for the suspicious semblance to "word association" some of these have. You encourage me too much, in my insanity. :D )

For any of you I may have accidentally damaged, I do apologize. :D

Long live love!

--Or something like it.

  1. I love how you find a way to blame it all on me. But it IS a good idea. I've never done that with such methodology. I didn't even know 'methodology' was a real word until my spell-check didn't correct me on it. And then I googled it so I wouldn't look like a retard (although using 'googled' probably makes me look like one, because it ISN'T a word). All told, I'm very proud of you, Angelina. VERY PROUD OF YOU INDEED!

  3. We were on the road at the time. Must say, I glanced at it quickly, thought to myself "Oh, so she is still alive", and promptly closed the window. I did, however, notice your current Skype quote, and did go to the link which brought me to this wonderful but somewhat wordy page. Since your skype quote would not allow me to copy/paste, I actually had to type out the URL, and since the brain cells that control my memory are going the way of all flesh, I had to look back & forth 3 or 4 times to make sure I'd typed it out correctly (had to change reili to rieli since i does come before e, except after c).

I must say in all honesty, that my main motivation in coming to your blog was to learn about Skype somehow being hijacked by some worm that was sending weird (wait a minute, shouldn't it then be wierd) offlines that were intent on infecting my computer. I was relieved to read (even if it did take a while to get your point), that it was just an exercise in learning who reads other people's Skype comments. I'm going to go right now and update mine, and see if you will read it.
