Well, if you've been wondering... I still like to move it and I still have been movin' it... it's just been really busy, so I haven't been maintaining those posts, but I will, again, in time. (I did have a good 47-minute run on Sunday, a couple hours of soccer on Tuesday night and the usual exercises on the days between. Am feeling pretty block-y, truth be told and if I may say so myself, but comes with the move-it territory. Sigh... The things we do for good health.)
In the meantime, as previously expressed, I need to do something about the voice. It's pretty pathetic to have a voice that can technically sing if it tried to, but can't because it doesn't know how.--And pretty pathetic to not be able to sing better just because I never invest in getting better or focus on it in any way.
Who has time?! My 3 favorite words. They keep me from doing a lot of things. I'm pretty content when I don't have to push myself too much, haha. Oh well, anyway... since there could be more recording on the horizon and I really don't want to do as poorly as I did last time (in my estimation), I'll put some effort into this. At least for a bit of time.
So, to begin with, I'm going to devote some time, this weekend, to going through the videos on this page:
Voice Lessons : Tips on How to Sing Better
Adding up the minutes on the videos, I'll need to slot about 45 minutes just to watch. So I'll add time to that to actually do the exercises and become familiar with them, plus time to read the page, jot down notes throughout, ponder future endeavors, etc. So...
-This weekend
-75 minutes
-Pick a time of day when I won't disturb anybody with loud-ness (or embarrass myself too severely, haha)
-Watch videos
-Do all exercises properly, not half-heartedly
-Focus on sound and technique; do it till it's right, or at least better (I have to actually tell myself to focus, because I don't... I'll space out and just go through the motions, even did so while recording, which really doesn't cut it -- this will be good for getting my happy little mind under control, too, aherm-aherm)
-Summarize suggestions/tips from videos for future use/reference (to skip having to reference full videos each time)
-Come up with next step(s) in plan for progress and world-domination-through-powerful-singing (this will actually push me past 75 minutes, since I'll browse other pages/sites, but I do it not just for me: I do it for you [I hope you sang that with gusto, as I just did -- in my head])
Okay, saying all that out loud is rather embarrassing -- generally I'd just say it to myself, but if I can be noisy enough about my interests, maybe it'll get other people to pursue their interests, too, or to maybe even realize they have an ability or interest and then start thinking about pursuing.
Amen?
:D
Well, if nothing else, if you're at all musically inclined with your voice and haven't had training or put much effort into learning/improving, at least give it 75 minutes this weekend, along with me. You might discover that you can actually contemplate putting a bit more effort into improving, too. We might find a way to make it quick and effective, which though, granted, it won't make us stars, will improve our God-given raw nature and ability.
Then we can all be singing weirdos together on some other plane and sound moderately more beautiful while doing so!! :D
Selah.
