For those of you who know, I hope you _sang_ that title! Thankyouverymuch.

Well, for everyone who faithfully asks "are you alright?" after reading about typhoons and earthquakes in/around Taiwan, I just want you to know that we did feel today's earthquake.
I was sitting at my desk and something rowdy was going on... In this case, "rowdy" translates as "more discussion and people standing around than the usual silence as we all focus intensely on entirely-too-busy to-do lists".
It felt like someone was shaking my chair. I almost asked, "Who's shaking the cubicles?" Then I realized our cubicles don't shake and that even if they did, since they're not attached to my chair, I wouldn't feel them shaking. Aherm.
All this very astute conclusion-ing happened within some fraction of a second. I'm just that clever and smart.
Then Shelah remarked, smartly, "Do you feel that earthquake?!"
Yes, it lasted long enough for us to all notice it, become aware, remark on it, and continue to enjoy it for a little longer. It was just that exciting.--And we're all just that clever and smart.
It was a gentle rock back-and-forth. Which reminds me of the first time I felt an earthquake...
I was in Turkey... 1999. The big earthquake that year had already happened, but there were still some after effects. I was in Slovakia (visiting my friend Maria, who was having her first! aww...) when the big one hit, but was involved with relief work upon returning home. So, one day, I was merrily sitting at the computer, tending to some Home secretary-al-ness, when I started to feel a (much-less-gentle-than-today's) rocking... Since I'd never felt an earthquake, my brain didn't associate it with anything, I just thought, "Who's shaking the house?" Haha. It felt like I was sitting on a flower with a long-long stem, swaying back-and-forth. It had a regular and even sway... interesting how an earthquake feels like that... it rolls...
Well, today was only my second real earthquake, besides those tremors one feels in various countries, from time-to-time... Totally different. To my astute feel-ing.
Now I know.
But I'll probably still always react with "who's doing what and why?", initially, since it's still a totally foreign feeling. :D
