"Home Day"

Our oven is fixed. Yay! Browneees!!! Well, I actually made the batter Monday night and they took it over to the Fisat Home -- while attending meetings -- to get it baked. But the oven door came in mid-afternoon, today, and, by faith, I had made cookie dough and laid out the first two trays, so those got done. Also attempted something semi-experimental with all the donated stuff I could find (that went together, that is): layers of ultra-sweet sponge cake, with whipping cream and cocoa, unsweetened, to balance out the sponge cake, and drizzles of coffee, topped by a layer of plain whipped cream. It was like trifle meets pave meets tiramisu. Yay! It worked -- although we were all sick of sweets by the end of that, since no one eats sweets, much, due to no baking having been going on for the last few months. :)--And I got to eat caviar, yaaay! Ever since seeing The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, I've wanted to have "vodka and caviar" (what subliminal messages!). Well, there wasn't any vodka involved and it was simple stuff, also donated, but it was really yummy -- I like the stuff, so a special little treat for my tummy... It's always nice to add little odds and ends, like that, to a good meal -- rounds it all out. The guys, directed by Vince, put together the dinner -- how sweet and tender to see them preparing the food so unitedly. Hahaha. No, really. It was extreeemely tasty -- snaps for Vince and Mark and their happy helpers. We had a bit of sports -- always a fun thing to do with everyone in the Home.--And, yeah... Oh, and this evening we said goodbye to Faith, part of the team/Home that's moving out next month.--And Dolly. Nice people. Faith, you're such a good person, even if it IS only Jesus. :) Oh, yeah, and earlier, I finally heard something semi-concrete about my ticket to Brasil, but it turns out the booking was for June 1, instead of July 1, so I need to sort things out over the phone, tomorrow, with the incomprehension on both sides of the conversation, heh. Please do continue to pray my ticketing/trips falls into place. Thanks! Okay, enough said about today.
