Attending the wedding

(Do you like how that rhymes?!)

Entertainment:

Red is big at traditional weddings (traditionally: no all-white or all-black for a wedding -- those are the funeral colors; more Western: the usual white for the bride, which this bride had, as well as a 2-3-month-looking child, when entering in the blue dress -- shocking :]).

Sweet-sweet Mag-gie-ee (that rhymes, too -- aherm):

All sorts of silliness:

The blue dress:

The red dress:

The chicken claw thing:

Thanks to Paul, Gabey threw this into my bowl, the meano(s)! I passed it on and it got passed on and on and went nearly around the table, heh. This chicken broth was the only non-fish/seafood-related dish of the whole afternoon. :O It was very tasty broth -- they'd cooked the chicken until it just fell apart, tasty-ly. But the result in the liquid was that it was suuuper tasty and everything was soft... and just such a relief from the otherwise seafood banquet. :) Well, I'm just not used to sitting down to EVERYTHING being fish-tasting, even the rice -- the only rice served had dried shrimp. :O Well, I did enjoy trying so many new and different things -- God only knows what was in what, aherm -- so that was all good.

This was the reception, so they came in once at the beginning, with the bride in a white dress, led by some flower bearers (which some of our kids/teens got roped into), sat down at the table, a little musical entertainment went on, then some toasting. Then they went out and she changed into blue; they went back in and stopped by each one of the tables: everyone would toast and the bride and groom would take a drink, too. Considering there were about 700 people total (supposedly -- 10 at each table), this could have led to much happy-ness, aherm. The bride was wisely taking tiny sips from a tiny cup which was probably filled with tiny apple juice, heh. Then they went on stage, where many politicians made many speeches and we applauded much. I have no idea what was said, but it turned out to be pretty long. Then she went out again and came back in the red dress and some photos were taken. All the while, we were eating and applauding. :) The poor servers were running around frantically the entire time. Then we had to leave, because Vince needed to prepare dinner at home (it takes us about an hour to get to the closer places in Taipei). So hasty goodbyes were said by all and the whole room happened to decide to exit at the same time -- quite the traffic jam, as the newlyweds stood at the door handing out favors and candies. On the way out, we were allowed to pick out flowers from the flower arrangements, since they were going to get thrown away, so some of us girls piled them into our arms, and Emma was informed that she was very good looking, by some non-English-speaking guy with a headset on. :D Well, she doesn't speak much and she insisted he said "you're all very good-looking", but considering she was towering about 2 feet above him, I'd say he was talking specifically to and about her. :D

Here's a very helpful store sign we encountered on our way home:

--And here's one of the flowers I got:

That evening, we attended Dan's birthday party and I just discovered I didn't take a single photo while there. :( We had a fun time talking and laughing and talking and laughing some more and a lot... I knew Dan and Katrina in Hungary -- such pleasant folks and good friends. A couple Active Members were there, too, and it was interesting talking to them about things, getting their perspective... They'd spent some time in London, studying, so were pretty good at the English... :)

Here are a couple very useful items we photographed on the way there...

Try this special [sic] whisky, when you're feeling particularly spiritual:

I was very tempted to try this beautifying drink -- I've always wanted to have that inner shine -- but then I was a little unsure about trying something that sounded like it should be in the medical section, heheh:

--And this... well, now, is there any question at all about what flavor one should go for?!:
