The guys found and swiftly killed this creature (the last one on the page):
Russel's Pit Viper
It was lurking right outside our kitchen/dining room, where we fill the mop bucket, store the large rice cooker, etc. Thankfully, it was a guy (not a woman and especially not a child) that was out there -- our vigilant Mike Greg! -- and he swiftly, erm, caused it bodily harm.
With the weather starting to warm up, the snakes will be waking up and coming out of their holes... Also, I believe they start breeding soon, so more sightings coming up. The kids aren't usually outside alone, however, our property is surrounded by plentiful vegetation, so lots of hiding places and points of entry (read: completely open) for the creatures.
We're getting some powder to put around the perimeter (I believe) of the property, in the hopes of warding them off, but prayers would be greatly appreciated, especially that we'll be vigilant and not place the kids (or ourselves) in any danger. It's impossible to know where you'll find one or even to keep the kids close enough at all times (this one was under the sink we use several times daily), so their protection will really come down to our prayers (and doing our part, of course).
Thaaanks!
