Okay, so, in my first day of Skype useage, I bombarded someone with "call" requests that I quickly canceled each time they popped up. They helpfully said, at some point, "Are you trying to call me or is it the double-click..." Or something like that. Well, considering this person was (note to "person": note the past tense, haha) not entirely well-known by me, I definitely wasn't trying to call. I don't know what I was trying to do, actually... Maybe I was just lovingly double-clicking everyone (which, at that point, was about 3 contacts -- oh for the day, sigh...) for fun, without realizing what double-clicking does...
Wannabe-motto: Your double-clicks can do might things; as can your prayers.
So, for the un-initiated or just-initiated (since I am now so-initiated -- you know you're initiated when a friend you haven't seen in 10 years tells you to turn on your webcam when you just woke up and are half-groggy and you actually do it, with only mild qualms)...
It seems that, by default, Skype has it set so that when you double-click on a contact, it initiates a call. This is most likely not what you intend -- chances are, you just wanted to chat them, or see some info on their profile, or you just have a nervous habit of double-clicking everywhere, everyone and everything. But then, that call screen pops up, you quickly cancel the call, and on their end, they see a "missed call from x" message. So, to avoid this, do like so...
Open Skype
Go to Tools
Go to Options
It'll open to General>General Settings
The top option says "When I double-click on a contact..."
Change that to "Start a chat"
Okay!
Voila!
Or as I say, voy-la! (Or vou-la, if I'm feeling particularly Brasilian.)
Are you pleased? I'm pleased...
